What is Launch Angle?

Launch angle is the angle created between the ground and the ball right after impact. Optimizing your launch angle is fundamental to hitting longer drives.

Generally the launch angle should hover between 11 and 18 degrees depending on your ball speed. People with higher ball speeds 160+ should aim to have around 11 degrees of launch while people slower ball speeds (less than 100 mph) should aim to be around 18 degrees.

How can I optimize my launch angle?

Dynamic Loft is the strongest indication of a ball’s launch angle. Higher dynamic loft = higher launch. Lower dynamic loft = lower launch.

Use the landing angle as a reference to optimize your launch angle. The landing angle should generally hover at 35 degrees to maximize distance.

Higher launch = higher landing angle.

Lower launch = lower landing angle.

Try tweaking your launch angle until the landing angle averages ~35 degrees.

(Note*: Increasing your launch over the tipping point will increase your carry but decrease your total distance.)
